How to Grow Your Own Urban Garden With Wall Planter Pods

Before humans became metro-sapiens (over 60% of the world’s population will be city dwellers by 2030), we were remarkably in sync with nature. Rapid industrialisation and urbanisation has all but severed our primordial connection with the natural world and with every new city and urban expansion project, natural habitats and native ecosystems suffer.

Somehow, we’ve got to find balance between our urban lives and the biodiverse spaces that fuel our connection with the planet. So what if we create that balance by turning concrete jungles into thriving green spaces? And what if we make it so easy that anyone can do it?

It turns out that you don’t require a sprawling backyard or a green thumb to grow a bounty of fresh produce and support biodiversity! We designed the Eggologc Wall Planter Pods to make it easy for anyone to grow a green haven in their own space, and in this blog, we explain how.

What Makes an Eggologic Planter Pod the Ideal Wall Planter?

Our mission was clear: to design the best wall planter for urban gardens. Our Planter Pods are purpose-built to be part of your vertical gardening system, which means as long as you have a spare corner, a fence, or a wall, you can grow a garden!

We roped in the experts, including herbalists and botanists, to design a wall planter that offers an optimal environment for a wide range of plants to thrive - from flowers to aromatic herbs.

Here’s what makes our Planter Pods stand out:

Carefully Chosen Materials

We didn’t want to use anything that contradicted our goal of helping people go green. That’s why, like with the Nester Pod, we chose 100% post-consumer recycled high-density polyethylene (HDPE) as our primary material. HDPE is known for its superior high-strength ratio and ability to withstand extreme weather conditions. It doesn’t leach harmful chemicals and is completely free of BPA, phthalates, and allergens. In other words, it’s perfectly safe for humans and animals.

In fact, HDPE is one of the very few types of plastics that is considered environmentally friendly. You can go ahead and recycle it without affecting its robustness and overall quality.

Optimal Growing Environment

You can grow countless plants in our wall planters thanks to their botanist-approved and extensively field-tested design. These pods feature an outer shell-insert combo, setting them apart from other planters. Whether you choose to use it standalone or in a cluster, the outer shell’s large, forward-facing opening makes it a breeze to access the plant. Plus, it helps them take full advantage of sun and rain.

The insert contains air pockets for enhanced thermal protection and airflow. It also has tiny drainage holes, meaning you don’t have to worry about water logging or root rot! Together, the weather-resilient outer shell and insulating insert shell provide the perfect environment for plants to flourish.

Hassle-Free Assembly

Remember we mentioned you don’t need a natural talent for gardening to grow a garden with the Eggologic planter pods? That’s because while other vertical gardening systems have complex engineering and challenging planting requirements, we designed our wall planters for quick and hassle-free assembly.

  1. The process starts with mounting the back of the outer shell.
  2. Next, add your seed-soil mixture to the insert and slide it right into the mounted shell.
  3. Then, just snap the front shell into place.

Yes, it’s as easy as that!

How to Water the Wall Planter Pod

Establishing a water regime can go a long way in keeping your garden lush and thriving. That said, how often you need to water the planter pod ultimately comes down to the time of the year, weather, growing zone, and plant species.

A good rule of thumb is to water as soon as the topsoil starts drying out. When that happens:

  1. Place a bowl under the pods and use a hose or a bucket for watering.
  2. Stop when you see the excess water dripping out of the drainage ports.
  3. Don’t let the water in the container go to waste. Use it to water other plants in your vertical garden.

What Can You Grow in Wall Planter Pod

Anything, really! Eggologic Planter Pods can support an amazing array of plants.

Show off your green thumb by changing the crops to suit the season. For example, in spring, you might want to consider planting herbs and compact vegetables for a delicious summer bounty.  After your havest, plant your fall bloomers for the end-of-season bees and then in late autumn switch those out to your spring-flowering bulbs.

But what about the deepest parts of the winter? When the temperature plunges and frost takes over? Even the hardiest plants can struggle in cold winter pots so you might want to consider bringing the plants inside. The pod insert sits flat, making it easy to put your plants away in a sheltered spot until spring comes knocking again!
