8mm Paper Tubes for Hive Pod (100ct)

Our 8mm paper tubes (8mm inner diameter/10mm outer diameter) fit inside our Hive pod to provide a perfect nesting, propagating and hibernating habitat for a variety of solitary bees. Made of 100% cardboard (paper), each 150mm long tube is designed to last for 1-2 seasons and individual tubes can be easily replaced after use. Used tube may be recycled or composted.

Why Depth Matters
We've specifically designed our Hive pod to work with 150mm long tubes because they provide the optimal depth to insure protection from excessive temperatures, wind and rain. Even more importantly, this tube length insures that both male and female offspring develop. Bee hotels with shorter tubes often produce only male or female bees (due to temperature). 

Placement
We highly recommend that the Hive pod be positioned to receive southeast sun in the morning to help bees warm up before leaving their enclosure. 

Note: Approximately 180 8mm tubes (2 boxes) are required to fill the Hive pod. 

Attract an even wider range of solitary bees by mixing these with our 6mm tubes.
